New York. 1880. - Profusely illustrated with etchings, steel and wood engravings and additional black and white full page and in-text illustrations, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers, vi+380pp, index, 13 x 10 inches, gilt decorative cloth-covered boards (hardbound) with leather corners and spine. Cover extremities rubbed exposing tips of boards; interior is tight and clean. MISSING ONE STEEL ENGRAVING, but with 9 large foldout Art Journal Supplements bound in, as called for in the index; "Designs for Panel or Plaque and for Screen or Panel" On thin paper, these are design patterns for fans, plaque, tiles, panels, "border or fireplace in tiles and for plaque." Among the interesting articles are a series on Principles of Decoration, featuring thoughts on wallpaper design etc etc. Much more fascinating information on artists and the art world of the period. Scarce with the Supplements. There is a library de-accession stamp at the front, rubbing and wear to the spine, foxing to the frontispiece - but is otherwise in nice condition.INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING IS EXPENSIVE!
