"The Acadians of Louisiana" by R. Daniel. ( Documentation will be provided the winner of the auction indicating the date of publication,author and magazine name.SEE FOOTNOTE) This informative, 10 page, illustrated magazine article is a wonderfully written and well researched piece by Daniel, who evidently spent a lot of time traveling the back roads and bayous of Louisiana in the 1870's among some great Cajun people. His incisive, and very thorough analysis of this remarkable group of people is really a joy to read. Daniel begins the article with a nice history of the Acadian people in Louisiana and tabouts . He deals with their particular patois, and even gets into the different regional idiosyncrasies of the Cajuns themselves-Bayou people in contrast to the Cajuns inhabiting the" prairies". The Saturday night extravaganzas that these people enjoyed are described in great detail with plenty of information about the the alcohol usage, the fine manners of everyone involved, the especially careful etiquette surrounding the single women of the community, the wild yet expert horsemanship of the young men that was even exhibited just outside the meeting halls
