1880 $1 MS66 Deep Prooflike NGC. Ordinarily a common date, the 1880 Morgan dollar becomes conditionally rare in MS66 with Prooflike or Deep Prooflike fields. NGC reports 45 non-Prooflike pieces in this grade (one of which is Plus-graded), six Prooflike coins, and three Deep Prooflike pieces, one of which is offered here; neither NGC nor PCGS has seen a coin numerically finer (2/18). This piece is only the fourth top-grade Deep Prooflike example that we have handled in the past 25 years. Both sides are brilliant, and the frost-white devices provide excellent contrast with the deeply reflective fields.
