1880s Gnome Christmas Greeting Playing Card Theme This listing is a 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" advertising trade card Christmas greeting card. The chromolithograph illustration on front depicts a gnome balanced on a playing card with playing cards in his hat band. He is in a tree with jingle bells in one hand. Acorns on the leaves. Interesting fantasy imagery. It is captioned Christmas! welcome time of all! May it smile on thee, Nought but happy days recall, Fill thy heart with glee! L.N. Marked O.Bs. 461. Reverse indicated Compliments of R. & J. Gilchrist - Importers and Dealers in Dry Goods at the Old Stand 5 & & Winter St., Boston. Established 1855. Not dated. c1880.
