1882 Martinsville, VA Henry County W.S. Gravely letter for N.H. Hairston for judgeship. This is a great political letter to W.T. James a former Confederate LT. COL. wounded at Seven Pines Battle and a state senator in the early 1880's. James was the state senator for Franklin County and A.M. Lybrook was the state senator for Henry County and W.S. Gravely labels Lybrook in the letter as a Benedict Arnold to the Readjuster cause and to Mr. Hairston. Gravely says Hairston was a "simon pure readjuster". W.S. Gravely signed as being from Dyers Store and as "chairman of the cameron club" in Henry County. Cameron was elected as a readjuster Governor of VA in 1881 and Gravely was a big supporter.
