You are bidding on an 1883-CC Morgan GSA Silver Dollar graded MS64 by NGC. This brilliant coin has excellent features, strong detail and blast-white, beautiful cartwheel luster! Carson City dollars are the most prized and collectible mint marks of the Morgan series! This is a GSA dollar. The famous "GSA Hoard" was discovered during a government audit in the 1960's. Bags and bags of forgotten Morgan Dollars were discovered in a basement vault at the US Mint - most with Carson City mint marks and most in uncirculated condition. With the Morgan no longer in circulation, the US Mint turned to the General Services Administration to grade and auction the coins off to the public. Those auctions were held through the 70's and GSA Morgans have since become some of the most valuable and sought-after of all Morgan Dollars. This coin is a VAM 7 variety. VAM's are mint flaws and distinctions that make the coin unique and rare since generally, there are only a few of each type. The VAM 7 variety is described as having a doubled date and doubled ear along with a doubled "CC" mint mark and a strong die scratch running across the eagle's upper left wing.
