Port Phillip Settlement. With Map, Numerous Drawings, And Letters In Facsimile. BONWICK, JAMES. Book Description: First Edition; 8vo; pp. x, 537 (+ 5 unpaginated pages); colour frontispiece, 5 f/o facsimile letters one of which has closed tear which has been repaired with tape part loose bt complete, and two others have closed tears which have not been repaired, 1 f/o map, b/w illustrations throughout, 2 pages of signatures, 2 pages of reviews of former works; rebound professionally in blue cloth with title in gilt on red panel on spine. Inscription on front free endpaper; Mrs Woodington (nee Batman) with the Author's compliments J Bonwick FRGS 1883. Further notation in pencil on verso of frontis reads; "Robert 4th son of William Batman senior & father of Mrs Woodington is mentioned in this book Last heard of in 1857, year of Indian Mutiny". Therefore, this copy was originally presented to John Batman's niece by the author. A very good copy. London, Sampson Low, Marston, Searle & Rivington, 1883.
