Very interesting postal cover with 2c US stamp, lightly cancelled (not tied) in pink, matching Crow Agency, Montana, Mar 1 1888 postmark, addressed to Eliza W. Barstow, Dorchester, Massachusetts. Original 2 pp. letter content still present, from "Lizzie", reading, in part, "Crow Ind[ian] Agency, Mar 2 1888 ... C ... is so much better [he seems to have had either typhoid or cholera]; he wishes you would send him some of the Boston papers. 'Lots of them.' Says, tell Eliza, 'I wish she would send me the Sunday Herald, Globe , and any others they may have.' He is so fond of reading, and although he is not allowed to do much himself, I can do it for him, thus amusing and entertaining him, without fatigue ... Do not worry about his convalescence, for greatest care is taken in every respect. ... I do not excite C. by opening any mail before him at night. Father and mother will remain as long as necessary. I have an Indian man and woman to all the drudgery. Our water closet is some distance from the house. Since C's illness we have had it moved, on account of its having been used for him, and now, nothing from his chamber is emptied t, but in a sink made on purpose a long way from the house.
