This is an 1888 silver coin from the German Empire, of Friedrich III, German Emperor, that was engraved into a beautiful personal love token. Called love tokens because most were made and given as remembrances of a love or relative and had names or initials engraved on them. Love tokens became quite popular in the mid- to late 1800's.Most were made from dimes, with quarters a distant second place. Other denominations are scarcer. Since Friedrich III ruled for only 99 days in 1888, a love token on one of his coins has to be extremely rare. I couldn't find any information on this particular coin, but it measures about 5/8" in diameter and is thin. Maybe it's a pfennig? At any rate, you'll be the only one with a love token like this one. These coins/tokens are highly collectible today.
