This is an 1889 Ho G Mexico 25 centavos silver. This is a rare mint (Hermosillo Ho), a rare date (the mintage is 28,000), and a rare condition (shows a little wear but all the details on the birds face are discernable). Then I am am selling this as a simple rare date, mint and condition. Ok. But it is also an overdate and possible over mintmark and over assayer's initials. Ok, it is hard to see, these photos are useless... at the bottom end of the '9' there is double from here to the middle of the bottom... and they are dots and a 'little' shadow fom 9 to 11 o'clock of what would be tbe lowere circle in an '8'. You see, in the bottom center of the '9' is an 'ear' hanging down! that is from the lower circle of an'8' hanging down. ************ and that, is the smoking gun************ It is an overdate, a 9 over an 8. The last picture (#8), it shows the date upside down... there on the top (previously the bottom of the '9' you can see this upside down 'ear'. The overmint mark and the over assayer's initials have some suspicious look-like possible cover-ups, but not much. Actually a beautiful coin... such a rare mint, I would only anticipate finding worn-out culls. And only in a higher quality coin, like this, could one find that overdate.
