A gorgeous, 1/2 L, METTLACH / VILLEROY & BOCH German beer stein #1809 with a design of 5 full figures in relief, each in a separate panel, with colorful geometric borders- the ornate pewter lid is covered with designs & has the Munich Maid on the top - measures 8 1/2" to the top of the lid- markings on the base of the inset base; the marks date the piece to 1889 [see photo]- some glaze imperfections, and what MAY be a tiny chip on the edge at the base [see photo close-up; I believe it is a popped bubble from the firing].
