Welcome to BOOKCOOK's Fine and Rare Bookstore. We have been an upstanding member of the Ebay selling community since 1998.Please take a moment to browse around and enjoy the book featured here that was specially selected for you. This amazing little gem is just a treasure trove of real New England cookery. It is a handwritten manuscript of dozens of favorite recipes, c. 1890. There is no actual notation of place or time, but given the recipes included it is most certainly from the New England area as there are quite a few recipes for Indian Puddings (see history of Indian Pudding below) and brown breads. All of the recipes are carefully written in this composition book similar to the books used by students in a one room classroom in the 1890's era. As you can see, this one was truly loved. It is complete with some spots and stains. Also noteworthy is the right edge that appears it was rescued from a fire by the owner who probably only had enough time to collect the most cherished items from the house in such an emergency. Being rescued and surviving over 100 years, it has found its way into this marketplace for the very first time. While it does have its cosmetic issues, it also is such a diamond in the rough with its wonderful, authentic recipes. From brown breads to pies to puddings galore, you can be sure that this one is a must
