This large folio ledger was made for the "Union Wadding Company" of Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The company was started in 1847 by Darius Goff. Goff had the idea of taking cotton waste from the local textile mills and making it into a wadded form that was usable by paper mills, and then he sold he wadding to paper mills to be made into paper. Goff also manufactured worsted braids, first under the name of the American Worsetd Compny. Goff also produced mohair plush for upholstery and was the first manufacturer in the United States to do so.This giant 1000 page ledger shows the business that the Union Wadding Company did with dozens of customers from late 1893 through early 1895. The beautiful half leather ledger has a raised spine with the title and decoartions in gilt. 12 1/2 x 16 1/2 inches.There is some wear to the corners otherwise EXTREMELY GOOD CONDITION! NO RESERVE!
