For bid is an original 1890's "Koster & Bial's" Theatre stereoview photograph, showing the theatre w the fist-ever public viewing of an Edison Vitascope motion picture! This great photograph shows the theater building surrounded by thee other buildings. It was located in Herald Square , New York city . A sandwich board advertising sign and a detached box office are visible. On April 23, 1896 Thomas Alva Edison's vitascope movie projector showed an amazed vaudeville audience the first public showing of a "moving picture show." Glued to the back of this great photo is a newspaper article about a 1938 plaque installation at the site of the theater. The plaque was to say, " the motion picture began. At this site, on the night of April 23 1896, at Koster & Bial's Music Hall. Thomas A. Edison's motion pictures were projected." This photograph is a MUST for anyone who is interested in the history of movie theaters and movies projection. It's a clear photograph that has great historical significance. The edges of the photo are worn and t are some stamps and wear to the back of it... Still, the actual images are in great shape.
