1890's KROMOGRAM Glass Slide(s) Portrait Early COLOR Process Stereo This item is very rare. Condition is good. Most a ttachments still attached. This slide was on the cover of Stereo World Magazine* (sho wn) and featured inside (shown). This is the last, and best Kromogram f rom the WING collection. This is an 1890's glass slide made to be used with The Ives Kromskop. A set of three separationpositives on glass, called Kromograms, are bound togetheralong the ends with black cloth tape so that they could be laid upon three different panels of the Kromscop in registration. Each panel had its own color filter of red, blue, or green and an internal system of mirrors to enable the viewer to see all three separate images simultaneously through a small eyepiece. The Kromscop was not a commercial success from a consumer standpoint though a good many were sold to colleges and universities for the purpose of demonstrating the physics of additive color synthesis. The Kromogram slides were one of the first forms of color processing, using different densities of black and white to create color with filters. Originally from the collection of noted 3D authority Paul Wing.(full color image represents what you'd see in Kromscop... the 3 image pairs were composited in Photoshop to show full color) *Magazine is NOT included ... for reference only.
