PARKSIDE PUBLIC SCHOOLChicago Illinois An original 1891 class photo from Park Side (Parkside) showing the large class of 48 students, two teachers, and 3 dolls. As was often the case, the wealthier, well dressed little girls were often given special treatment and front rows. The little boy with the crutch has a smile but not many of the other children do. The Parkside Public School was built in 1889 and is still there today as Parkside Academy. It is located at 6938 SE End Street, about one block from Jackson Park Highlands, An affluent and historic neighborhood that was built just below the site of the Columbian Exposition. The photo measures a bit more than 7 1/2 inches long by 4 3/4 inches tall with an overall measurement of 10 inches by 8 1/8 inches. Would make a fine addition to any Chicago history or photographic collection.
