Izaak Walton (1593-1683) was an English writer best known for his treatise on Fishing, The Complete Angler . Blessed with a long life, Walton enlarged his original 1653 edition with addendums collected over the course of 30 years of leisure and sport, so when his fifth edition was published in 1676 the text had grown from 13 to 21 chapters with a section concerning fly fishing authored by Walton’s friend and fellow fisherman, Charles Cotton .
