Pictorial Armorial bookplate of Mary Edmunds, signed C W Sherborn 1893 . The arms to each corner are named, the central ME monogram is set upon mistletoe, and to each side of this, between marguerites and lilies, are two vignettes of the owner's houses. Not in Franks. The marguerites and lilies indicate the names of the owner's daughters, but additional biographical details are lacking. A great defect of the Sherborn catalogue, compiled by his son and GH Viner, is the lack of biographical information. Dimensions of paper: 110x76mm Condition: Average, with the exception that in the top and bottom margins (in the latter case, running up into the image) are two translucent patches, probably the effect of solvent from sellotape, or something similar.
