Sterling Silver Souvenir Spoon of 1893 World's Columbian Exposition The World's Columbian Exposition, held in Chicago in 1893, ws the last and the greatest of the nineteenth century's World's Fairs. The Fair was immensely popular, drawing over 27 million visitors, including Frederick Douglass, Jane Addams, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Henry Blake Fuller and Henry Adams. This spoon represents how America survived the last decade of the nineteenth century-how it pursued its hopes while confronting its fears. FRONT SPOON HANDLE READS "ISABELLA" THE ROYAL PATRON OF CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS. BACK SIDE HAS BUST OF COLUMBUS AND 1492. The spoon measures 5 5/8" in length. It weighs 20 grams.
