Up For Auction--- I'm selling my oringinal J. & E. Stevens Co. "Indian and Bear" Mechanical Bank circa 1895 (Also called "Indian Shooting Bear" and "Bear Hunt"). I am including in this auction an original 1907 "Bear Hunt" trade card and the quisessential mechanical bank book and guide "Penny Lane". Bank - Very Fine condition. The paint is extrodinary. Indian has its original feathures. Pat. Pending stamped on base. Bear is brown. Action is fabulous. Place penny on rifle. Cock the rifle and the indians head tiltss foward as if the aim. Push the lever and the coin shoots into the bears chest. The bears mouth opens. I have shown in the last photo my receipt from Gemini Antiques in NY from whom I purchased this bank in 2006 for $2950. Recent auctions place the value of this bank, in this condition, at between $3500 and $4500. I don't have the final winning prices. Trade Card- "Bear Hunt" trade card in excellent condition. The card is on paper and measures approximately 3" x 5". The bank was renamed bear Hunt in 1907. "Penny Lane -A History of Antique Mechanical Toy Banks" by Al Davidson- Brand new condition. $55 value. This book is a must have reference guide for any serious bank collector. Thanks for looking and see my other bank and trade card auctions this week.
