Pierce, M.D. the book is a stated 56th edition. The book is a complete medical text of every aspect of medicine, with anatomy, physiology, etc., and is profusely illustrated with countless engravings as well as several colored plates. It also contains a complete vocabulary section, appendix and index at the rear of the book. The book also contains various perhaps "quackery" treatment options and numerous associated patient testimonials.The book is large and heavy, and measures 8"x5-5/8"x1-3/4" and contains 1008 numbered pages with all pages including the front and rear end pages, a frontispiece photograph of the author, as well as several colored plates being present and well attached, with pages showing generalized overall age discoloration, occasional foxing, with all text clear and legible. The illustrations are essentially within text although several are full page. The book retains the original pebbled black cloth covered boards with moderate corner wear and rounding with the bottom corners having some cloth loss, mild edge wear, some splotchy front cover
