Milton's Paradise Lost, Illustrated by Gustave Dore. Edited by Henry C Walsh, AM. Philadelphia: Henry Altemus, c1895. Large, thick, and beautifully designed Victorian gilt stamped leather covers with elaborate gilt design, bordering and embossing on cover. Vety nice external shape with some shelf rash, as shown; however gilt still bright and colors vibrant. Hinges shaken yet intact. Unmarked. Gorgeous occult themed b&w plates throughout this oversized book, all by the famous Gustave Dore. Pages & plates bright ...a true gem inside and out forgiving minor age flaws. Solid binding; all page edges red. A collectible and beautifully preserved folio from both the legendary Milton as well as Dore. Measures 10" x 12.25". ----
