This auction offers a stunning art glass toothpick holder that dates to around 1895. It was named "Rubina Ribbon Overlay"--see Heacock "Rare & Unlisted Toothpick Holders", page 20, plate 1090. According to the author, it is likely English but possibly American (any help appreciated). The toothpick has a crimped rim, inverted thumbprint optic on the top half, raised ribs around the lower half and pretty enamel floral decoration. It is 2 1/4" high, 2 1/8" across at the top and 1 5/8" at the base. The bottom has a ground pontil. This piece is in excellent estate condition with no chips, cracks or repairs noted. A very special addition to any collection! The cost of U.S. insured shipping and very careful packing is $7.00. Please check my other auctions this week for more nice toothpicks and a few good salt & pepper sets to save on combined shipping!
