In a really decorative binding with a bright gilt picture and gilt detailing to the cover, and gilt page edges (the gilt is more detailed than shown in the pictures, because ebay degrade the photo's as they upload them). One of the scarcer titles by Mrs. O. F. Walton (Amy Catherine Walton, 1849-1939). Coupled with a background theme of "The Prodigal Son", this is an interesting look behind the scenes of Victorian family life, as told by a comfortable upholstered armchair, purchased new by a young couple getting married, it next goes to a pawn-shop and on to auction, passing through numerous owners who are all connected in various ways, including a miserly money-lender who hides all his money in the upholstered seat and then dies, and finally ends up with the children of the original owners.
