Here is a genuine Series of 1896 $2.00 SILVER CERTIFICATE, " EDUCATIONAL SERIES ".This is the second note of the 3 note Educational Series, issued in 1896 in $1, $2 and $5 denominations. They were only issued from 1896 to 1899, and are considered the most beautiful notes ever issued by the United States.Serial # ->12967153<-. Treasury signatures of Bruce and Roberts. Fr. 248.An attractive, eye-appealing circulated note. Some pinholes, edge nicks, minor repairs, etc. SEE PHOTOS!The huge central vignette is " Science Presenting Steam and Electricity to Commerce and Manufacturing" designed by Edwin Blashfield and engraved by G.F.C. Smillie. Central adult allegorical female and 2 seated allegorical females either side, with children in between. Back has p ortraits of Robert Fulton at left and Samuel F.B. Morse at right. The portrait of Fulton shows him wearing foreign decorations, including the French Legion of Honor and the Danish Order of the Dannebrog, the only portrait on any US currency showing foreign decorations.
