For your consideration is this illustrated account of Younghusband’s travels, complete with 4 folding maps ; from the preface: “ Captain Younghusband’s achievements as a traveler and explorer…won for him a very distinguished place among the Gold Medalists of the Royal Geographic Society….In 1886 he visited Manchuria….across the Gobi Desert and Chinese Turkestan to Kashgar and Yarkand…crossed the Himalayas….visited Safder Ali…”. Exciting. Condition notes: Good. This octavo, measuring 9 inches by 5 ¾ inches, is bound in green buckram, being an ex-library copy with the usual marks. The last few pages of the index are loose. The map of Manchuria, no longer bound-in at page 56 is now backed on linen as is the map of the Northern Frontier of India and the map at page168 is essentially detached. The text and maps are in very good condition, making this an ideal reference for the working scholar or historian interested in reading the 1897 printing.
