ORIGINAL very rare heliograph used in the Boer War 1899-1902 in South Africa. Mance pattern. Helio Mark V. Serial number: B13509 . Complete with tripod, mirror assembly, auxiliary arm, secondary mirror and aiming post. All working, nothing broken or cracked. FREE shipping (in US).Originally devised by Sir Henry Mance at Bombay in 1869. The Heliograph was an instrument for instantaneous optical communication over 50 miles or more in the 19th century, allowing Morse code to be sent.
