Here we have an 8 day long case clock with a crossbanded magogony case and painted dial signed I Thomas Worcester.I inherited this clock from a relative several months ago and being unfamiliar with these antiques, I cant give much information as to its history, however my research shows that this is probably 'period one' clock manufactured between 1770 to 1800.The dial is painted and measure 33.5 cm wide and 46cm high, it is signed I Thomas Worcester. The hands appear to be original steel items and there is a second hand together with a date wheel. The movement and case appear to be original, I cant see any evidence of a marriage.Overall dimensions are 230cm high, 49cm wide at base, 26cm deep, 36cm waist.I have spent a little time getting the clock up and running but havent performed any major work, new items include a new pendulum feather and rod together with some light oiling using the correct clock oil.The clock actually runs well and keeps good time. I have managed to get it accurate to within about 1 minute a week which is considered good a clock of this age. The clock chimes on the hour. Some of the bad points regarding this clock are as follows:- There is some damage to the fretwork on the base of the case which could do with replacing, see pic. The base of the could do with strengthening as it looks like the joints are loose, read more
