Very rare form, probably part of a dessert service. The foot-rim has three distinct dark brown "pad marks". Painted with excellent polychrome enamel wickerwork/trellis, butterflies/moths and gilded trim. The porcelain body has decent translucency.This soft-paste porcelain plate is low relief molded in a distinctly English style modeled after 1760s British "white salt-glazed" stonewares. Wavy rim, rococo-scrolled reserve compartments, colorful polychrome enameled wickerwork and trellis instead of the typical molded wickerwork/trellis found on contemporary white salt glazed stonewares of the 1760s. Similar to an unattributed molded porcelain desert dish at V&A museum #2916-1901.Size : 8.5" diameterCondition Report: Used. Good condition for its age, with the exception of a pencil tip sized glaze flake or chip on underside rim (photographed). The plate is free of restorations, repairs and cacks. The yellow ground, polychrome enamels, and gold gilt all have variable rubbing wear losses. The glaze has the typical areas of small black specs.
