American landscape painting of unidentified, probably idealized subject. The serene view encompasses a wide river or lake and large distant mountain shrouded in mist. A small peasant appears along a rough country path in the lower right foreground. The style is similar to paintings by Thomas Doughty or Asher B. Durand and of the Hudson River School. Signed "C.
