Antique circa. 1900 Turkoman Tekke dip-ghali medium rug 9 x 3 GulsThis superb rug is part of a SC Estate sale I will be listing gradually as I clean and inspect the rugs. This is an exciting Turkoman Tekke Dip-Ghali in exceptional condition. The madder red field contains 3 rows of 9 main Guls and interspersed minor Chemche 8-armed (spoon or scoop) Guls. Wonderful exceedingly masterful and fine weaving of a true expert of 15 x 15 knot density approximately 225 kpsi asymmetrical knots open to the right, both warps and weft are wool, making this a treasure of weaving. The wool is absolutely beautiful soft, silky and lustrous, a real gem for its age. The colors in this rug are just superb, the gold is eye poppingly fantastic. Suburst border, and on each side the center of one is picked out in gold instead of madder red, a wonderful weavers statement. Plate #11 and 12 are the reverse side of the rug. Overall condition is "fantastic", there are no repairs, stains, the pile is even and totally unworn throughout. The colors, being naturally dyed are still vibrant, full and strong. This is an investment quality rug, which will only appreciate in value.
