This item is an old ca. 1900 Council Grove, Kansas, Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen invitation to the 'Seventh Annual Masquerade Ball, To Be Given In The Etta Opera House, Friday Night, March 16, 1900', with the document in very good to excellent condition. The document is printed on extremely thin, light weight yellow colored paper, some what like tissue paper, and so thin one can see through it. (It apparently was this light weight in order for multiple documents printed on the paper to be very light weight in order to save on shipping, or so I would imagine.) Regardless, the document measures 9-1/4 by 7 inches, and it includes a blank space for the name of the invited to be written in by hand, as one can see in the images below. Condition is as good as one could reasonably expect for something this fragile and old. There are some folds, and the bottom right hand corner has some very light holes, but there are no significant flaws. The entire text on the document can be seen in the images below, and there is no printing on the reverse side. In researching the relationship between Council Grove, Kansas and the railroad, we learned that the town has a rich history that includes a very early stop on the Santa Fe Trail, and later, it became a junction point for the railroads; while I can't claim to be an expert on which railroad read more
