You are bidding on a BEAUTIFUL AND SCARCE (according to my idaho book) old "good for" style trade token which actually is good for " GOOD FOR 40c IN TRADE " at business called " HENRY LEE " ( ORIGINAL OWNER THOUGHT POSSIBLY ASIAN, CHINESE-AMERICAN MERCHANT ), which was located in tiny old downtown "MALAD" or today called MALAD CITY, IDAHO This is a very nice token. The small town of MALAD is actually one of the OLDEST towns in Idaho...goes back to 1864, and originally a fur trapper community. Interestingly, John Fremont passed through spot where town is today long before that in 1840s. Malad City is located in Oneida County Idaho...southern Idaho, very close to the UTAH border, and town of Tremonton, Utah. This is a token I know very little about. I do not own newest IDAHO exonumia book. This does show as a very scarce Rarity "5" in my older Idaho token book (Pincock)....I have never seen it before This is a nice old token with unusual 40 cent denomination.. The original owner thought this was a tough token to find from Idaho, and its a real peach (nice condition)...also, possibly "HENRY LEE" was Asian-American or Chinese-American merchant in this small Idaho town. Trade token is brass metal, octagonal, about 35mm in diameter (diagonal meas), and it displays very nicely. (please see pictures in gallery) Token has not been cleaned read more
