1900 MANCHESTER VT GOLFING BROCHURE This auction is for a brochure of the Equinox House, Manchester-In-The-Mountains, Vermont. It is for the Forty-Eighth Season of Golf which runs from June to November. The brochure has 16 pages including the cover. The cover is in color and the inside is B & W. Open the brochure measures 5 3/4" x 5 5/8" - it is then folded in half and you see the color photos. T are many B & W photos as well as a circular map. Inside they describe all the many ammenities and also letters of recommendations. They offers to come to your home to set-up your accommodations or they will meet you at a hotel in a well known city. Inside they also llist past guests along with the number of people in their party and the numbe of horses they brought with them. The front cover is just beautiful with the full color picture of a man & woman in their full dress golfing outfits of the era. The Equinox House was established in 1853 and this was their 48th season. They show the many buildings and show pictures of the golfers on the links. They also advertise their Equinox Ginger Champagne made at the Equinox Spring Co. in Manchester, VT. and give prices for shipping it to their guests homes. Of interest on the last page was this item - "SPECIAL NOTICE APRIL 1st, 1900 - The Bennington & Rutland R.R. has been sold to the Rutland Railway, Percival W. Clement, President. This change in ownership of the Railroad assures improved and quicker train service; earlier arrival of the Green Mountain Flyer ....". This brochure is in very good conditon for its age. It shows some foxing on the outside cover and shows the fold as it has been folded all these years but it is not worn or at the folds on the inside & the outside fold shows one slight tear at bottom and wear along the edges. The outside edges show slight wear also but overall it is in very good condition. This is a great collectible.
