St. Louis, Mo.: American Book and Bible house, 1900.Carroll's notoriously racist 1900 book, filled with astoundingly shallow racist themed illustration headers for each chapter. Racism at its worst but quite interesting for its historical value, and rarely found up for auction. Red cloth boards with central black face illustration and title still bright to front board and spine; some spots, stains as well as some wear/thread exposure along the corners of the boards, which are only held by small portions; the spine cover nearly detached with some minor losses, as shown. The book is in expected external shape for a book usually found, if ever, decimated in even worse shape than this specimen. Retaining all leaves with decorative EPs; tanned/ browned throughout, a few small stains, some pages loosened but binding held decently within. Unmarked.
