You are bidding on a tough to find old "good for" trade token once used at a bordello / saloon located in the mining camp of Goldfield Nevada. This is simply a fabulous token....have read various articles written that "The Den" was in fact a bordello / crib / lady of the night business along with being a SALOON. Mr. Schabel was listed "officially" in the 1906 Nevada Polk's directory as running a "saloon" in Goldfield....that was the way the did it back in the old days...the saloon was the "front business"....the name "THE DEN" is another subtle giveaway. It is rare to find this token this nice. If you look in the Nevada book, this token was "gold plated"...most examples are dug, and the gold plating is LONG GONE...this one is about as nice as you can find. Also note...this is a REAL one...this bordello / saloon token was such a legendary token, that there were reproductions made of this token in the 1970's....but they were stamped as replicas....THIS IS THE GENUINE "DEN" token from 1906 era Goldfield. Also...there are very few true "pictorial" tokens from Nevada....note the wonderful patriotic theme "George Washington" pictorial on this token...amazing.
