1901 PROHIBITION CAST IRON AXE ART STOVE CO ADV Up for bid is a Laurent Stove and Range advertisement from the ART STOVE CO. Detroit Michigan. This is a cast iron AXE measuring approx. 9 " long. On one side of the axe is a picture of whom I am assuming is Carry Nation, the radical prohibitionist, who, in 1900, decided that since officials were unwilling to uphold the law, she would take a hatchet and destroy the saloons, bars, and other establishments that sold alcohol. On the side of the axe with her picture are the words 1901 AXE OF ALL NATIONS CUT OUT THE WHISKEY On the other side LAURET STOVE & RANGES ART STOVE CO. DETROIT, MICH. I have been told this was a store give away item and was to be used to remove a lid on a wood burning cook stove. In great condition. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Click to see our other listings Add us to your FAVORITE SELLERS list!
