We would say this Underwood & Underwood Stereoscope could possibly be rated as museum quality. This is the finest one we have come across. The patented date is June 11, 1901. The handle mechanism has a patented date of June 14, 1881. The bottom slide clip has a patented date of June 8, 1907. The wood is red mahogany with beautiful original patina. The engraved metal viewing section has the embossed Sun Sculpture with the U & U Trademark. The brown velvet face cushion is in tact. This stereoscope came from the original owner. It comes with a set of one hundred Underwood and Underwood cards in its original box entitled United States. The box is worn and torn and in poor condition. All cards have a slight curvature.
