1902 Lord Stanley of Preston "Earl of Derby" Guild Mayor Collection of 5

Pricing & History
Dating back over 100 years, the five Lord Stanley items offered here commemorate the then Earl of Derby's 1902 tenure as Guild Mayor of Preston. Sensational souvenirs of the man who donated the Stanley Cup while Canada's Governor General include commemorative tea cup and saucer, and coin and pin, as well as an original 1902 "Souvenir of Preston Guild" book. Stanley returned home to England in July 1893 to become the 16th Earl of Derby following his brother's death. The antique tea cup features "Earl Derby K.G. Guild Mayor" beneath Stanley's image and both cup and saucer also have "Sept 1902 Preston Guild", all with bluish tint. A photo of Stanley and his wife appears in the Preston Guild book, a remarkable souvenir that includes a guild history, vintage photos and advertisements. "Lord Derby" surrounds a portrait of Stanley on the face of a brass-colored pin with "In Commemoration of the Preston Guild Lord Derby Mayor September 1902" on the reverse. Profile images of Stanley and his wife appear on the face of a commemorative coin that has a hole punched through the top. Also to note is a hairline crack in the teacup near its handle. Great vintage collection of original Lord Stanley memorabilia.
