The majority of the only 2,700,00 MINTED 1904 Mint State survivors from this 20th century Morgan dollar issue display numerous bagmarks, weak impressions, and poor eye appeal that would hardly do justice to a grade above MS 62. Believing that they would never locate an attractive specimen, dealers and collectors alike essentially gave up on this date around the middle of the century and concentrated on other, more aesthetically pleasing issues. Time has, however, proved most kind to the modern Morgan dollar specialist. In the 1980's, a group of crisply struck, beautifully toned 1904 Morgans emerged from hiding and sent shock waves through the numismatic community. These pieces were most likely obtained directly from the Philadelphia Mint at the time of issue . This coin is graded by NGC and you can rest assured that this Morgan has not been cleaned, polished, whizzed, dipped or tampered with like many coins offered for sale on eBay.
