David Bryce & Son, Glasgow, 1904. 40 miniature volumes (3.5 x 5cm). Complete set of Shakespeare's works, including the sonnets and a glossary, dedicated with special permission to Ellen Terry. All volumes have all edge gilding; some volumes have light bumping and wear; some volumes have sun fading on spine; pages are clean and bright. While some of these Shakespeare sets featured identical bindings for all 40 volumes, the volumes in this unique set feature contemporary bindings of various colors and materials, as shown in the photographs. This set contains one mismatched volume, All's Well that Ends Well, which has been added from a single-color set, but it is the same 1904 Ellen Terry edition. The mismatch is not noticeable given the variety of original bindings. Overall a very good complete set with unique bindings. Rare.
