You are bidding on a SCARCE (listed in wyoming token book) old "good for" trade token used for 12 1/2c in trade at " ROY MONTGOMERY " who ran the infamous " BUFFALO HUMP SALOON " BUSINESS once located in old town of Gillette, Wyoming. This is a tough TOWN to find old tokens from. The town of Gillette is located in Campbell County...sort of midway between the BIGHORN NATIONAL FOREST (to the west) and SPEARFISH, SOUTH DAKOTA (to the east). If you look in the fine Wyoming token book, it is documented that " Roy Montgomery " ran the " BUFFALO HUMP SALOON " from 1904-1914...and in fact there is an amazing interior view of the "Buffalo Hump Saloon" in the token book, even showing Bob Montgomery wearing his black derby hat leaning on the old bar. (this is why I love the wyoming token book....history, and even some key photos...great) This is a tough to find token. If you look in the Wyoming token book (Bowker and Capt Lee) this token is listed under Gillette. THERE IS VERY LITTLE LISTED UNDER THIS COAL MINING TOWN, a couple of varieties of this token which are all tough to find. Trade token is brass, round shaped, measures 21mm in diameter, and it displays nicely. (please see pictures in gallery) Gallery pictures should show you all you need to know. While many Wyoming tokens are in "dug" condition... this is a beautiful old token. read more
