The ancestral language of the Haida People, Haida (aka: Xaat Kil) is still spoken by 3 or 4 dozen members of the Haida tribe as located in British Columbia. The main dialects are the Skidegate and the Masset/Hydaburg. Near the turn of the twentieth century, the noted American anthropologist and linguist, John R. Swanton (1873-1958), recorded the Haida Texts and Myths, Skidegate Dialect, compiling them in this book originally presented to the Smithsonian and now offered for your consideration. The first 109 pages are bi-lingual, being in both Haida and English. Condition notes: Very good. This octavo, measuring 9 ½ inches by 6 inches, is bound in gilt blocked green cloth.
