This is an original very early 20th century color advertisement for the Clyde Steamship Company, operating (at the time) lines between New York, Boston, Charleston and Jacksonville, Florida. Measures framed 34.75" x 26.75". The visible image measures 32"x 24". Comes in the original(?) early painted wooden frame, shows some wear. The glass is wavey and quite old. In the last 15 years a new paper back was applied to the rear of the frame and new hangers were added. The print shows some areas of soiling but is in remarkable shape for its size and age. The ship illustrated in the advertisement is the Apache. She's clearly flying american colors. In the right rear background can be seen the Statue of Liberty. At the bottom appears: "CLYDE S.S. COMPANY. NEW YORK. BOSTON. CHARLESTON. JACKSONVILLE, FLA." "The S.S. Apache was active between 1901-1928. She was built by the William Cramp & Sons Company; Philadelphia, PA., U.S.A., and was owned by the Clyde Steam Steamship Co. She had principal dimensions of 336.5ft LOA x 46.1ft beam x 20.5ft draft and weighing 4145 tons." A lovely piece. Shipping: Please see shipping calculator for mailing cost.
