The US team balloon won the race, having traveled the farthest distance, landing on the north coast of England some 640 km from the start. The winners had honors hosting the next year's race so it was held in St. Louis on October 27, 1907.Winners of the St. Louis race: Oskar Erbslöh, Henry Helm Clayton Germany Pommern flying 40 minutes for a distance of 1,403.55 km.The Gordon Bennett Cup (or Coupe Aéronautique Gordon Bennett) is the world's oldest gas balloon race.
