DESCRIPTION OF ITEM A maroon leather bound diary, entitled EXCELSIOR DIARY , in gold impressed scripted letters. It measures 6¾", x 3½", x approximately 1" thick. The diary folds over like a wallet and has a pocket for cash or papers and a loop for holding a pen or pencil. The 1908 calendar appears on the inside cover. There is an almanac that includes travel routes with fares, a Theater Guide, Places of Interest, High Tide information at different locations along the travel route, Eclipses, a Monthly Account of the Moon's Phases, Interest Tables, Weekly Table of Wages, Weights and Measures, Income on Stocks, Principal Cities, States and Territories, Domestic and Foreign Postage and a list of the Presidents up to and including Theodore Roosevelt. The rest of the diary is composed of dated lined ledger pages. The diary belonged to a railroad employee from McMinnville, Oregon, and is filled with daily accounts having to do with his position during his employ. The last few pages in the diary have a place
