. AUTHENTIC EARLY WESTERN $1,000 GOLD BOND . BILLINGS COLD STORAGE COMPANY BILLINGS, MONTANA Early Bond# 35 Before the invention of the refrigerator, ice companies such as this were a vital part of everyday life... mainly for keeping food fresh. The first thing I noticed about this bond is the exceptional condition. It looks like it was issued just yesterday. Actually it was issued 105 years ago in February of 1909 . Printed with an attractive blue ink. Shiny-gold corporate seal at bottom. Hand-signed by the company president and secretary. Most notable is the vignette, showing ice tongs and two large blocks of ice. According to the fine print, it was payable in gold coin of the United States. A page of $30 payment coupons is attached to the top - all 40 are still there (Coupons not shown in scans below). A second seal is punched into this document as well. It reads: THIRTEENTH JUDICIAL DISTRICT COURT - YELLOWSTONE COUNTY, MONTANA This bond is very large and did not fit entirely on my scanner - it is complete.
