Up for sale is a 1909, 2 ½ Dollar Gold Indian Head Quarter Eagle. This beautiful Gold coin is offered raw and ungraded. This item is in good condition with some light scratching. See pictures for details, they are of the actual coin up for sale. The quarter is not part of the sale and only pictured for size comparison. Obverse: Indian Head Capped with War Hat and the 13 stars of the Union Reverse: Eagle on bundle with olive branches Metal: Gold 90% - Copper 10% Weight: 4.18g Size: 18mm Designed by Bella Lyon Pratt, the quarter eagle minted from 1908 to 1929 was a departure from other examples of American coinage because it had no raised edges, instead featuring a design sunk into the planchet. At the time this design was unpopular. Today the coin is sought after by collectors and considered an important part of America's creative coinage.
