All enquiries : Stories From Hans Andersen, illustrated by Edmund Dulac, one of the very rare few copies with all the pages printed on Japon ( Japanese vellum, a precious material, rather than regular paper which was used for all of the other copies of the Deluxe edition, and also bound in gilt vellum. This book is thus virtually imperishable, as these are both superior materials to stand the test of hundreds of years. Exceedingly rare variant of the Deluxe Edition, only 100 copies were ever printed, some were signed by Dulac. This copy is on Japanese Vellum ( Japon ) and bound in gilt vellum, but not signed/numbered. Very special this year 2012/2013, as this book is 101 years old now, first printed in 1911. Pictorial endpapers with strips of crowned peacocks. A beautiful full gilt vellum binding with a gold design to upper cover as on the Limited Edition. Top Edge Gilt. ( TEG). Other edges rough-cut. The contents on Japanese Vellum ( Japon). A very rare variant of the Deluxe edition, and a beautiful copy. Large book, with 250 pages and 28 full colour illustrations, these are actual lithographs and are printed separately and tipped into the book. Frontis under a tissue, all other illustrations faced by a decorative captioned blank. Many decorations throughout. The Stories include Hans Christian Andersen's The Snow Queen, The Nightingale, The Real Princess, The Mermaid, The Garden of Delight, The Emperor's New Clothes, The Wind's Tale. Book condition: A gorgeous copy. Binding is FINE. Contents, a faded early Christmas gift inscription ( photo below), tissue over the frontis spotted and darkened and slightly age wrinkled ( which happens quite often on books of this type and age), otherwise a fine copy with perfect plates and without a single detracting mark.
