Up for sale is a 1911-S LINCOLN CENT grading VF. GRADING: I use "The Official ANA Grading Standards" and "Making The Grade". I make every effort to grade accurately and to post good clear pictures of the coin up for sale, so you can . A FEW THOUGHTS ON CLEANED COINS: If I think or know that a coin has been cleaned, I will always mention it in the description of the coin. I will never sell a cleaned coin without noting it. That being said, many coins especially early types were often lightly cleaned as a matter of what was considered "Preservation" and up until the 1950s, the cleaning of coins was still being advocated in numismatic publications. Even today some experts suggest that careful cleaning of an unsightly coin is not all bad. While some cleanings are very obvious and detrimental to a coin, leaving it looking unnatural and badly hairlined, at other times, especially in the case of very old cleanings, it may be hard to detect that a coin was cleaned. In my own collection I have some cleaned coins. Some because I could not tell the coin had been cleaned and others where I could tell under magnification but it the was the grade and tone which I needed in a set.
